This is about as simple as it gets. But simple isn’t worth much if it’s not a well-executed result of a good design. The GiantMouse GMF1-P is an excellent small knife that has no need to add complicating, unnecessary extras.

GiantMouse GMF1-P a Nearly Indestructible Little Knife

It’s made of one continuous piece of N690 Cobalt steel with a 2.6-inch blade and a 5.4-inch overall length. The handle area is lightened with three large holes that could be used as lashing points or to secure paracord for a beefier grip. There is well-placed jimping in three areas: where your thumb takes a position on the spine, on the inside of the finger guard and at the downward curved tail end where it rests in the palm.

THE GIANTMOUSE GMF1-P WITH SURVIVAL GEAR

Used as a neck knife with paracord strap, Exotac nanoSpark and small compass, you have makings of a tiny survival kit.

Comes With Leather Sheath

The classy leather sheath is sturdy and is configured for vertical belt carry, although you could run a lanyard through the belt loop for tip-down neck carry. Either way, you’re not going to draw the knife out quickly when you first get it. The knife fits very tightly in the sheath. They’re designed together for an excellent fit. The leather will stretch in time so that it’s easier to access the knife.

Simple design, nothing to go wrong

There is a bit of jimping in 3 places on the knife to help with the grip. This is a simple, yet effective design with not much that can go wrong.

Danish Design, Italian Execution

GiantMouse knives are the creations of Danish knife designers Jens Anso and Jesper Voxnaes. The GMF1-P is manufactured to their standards in Maniago, Italy. This knife features a stonewashed PVD-coated finish. The wide, stubby drop-point blade is a good cutter and the knife’s overall small size and downturned handle angle necessitates a grip that naturally lends itself to fine control. There is an elegance to this knife that complements its basic utility. I’m going to attach this knife to the left shoulder strap of my day pack where I can access it easily with my right hand.
