Giant Mouse ACE Grand – Available RIGHT NOW!!! You can purchase it at the Giant Mouse web site or on BladeHQ right now for $185! This micarta/elmax model is a bit larger than we’ve seen lately from Giant Mouse and is intended to get some work done. I’m always excited to see what the Giant Mouse team (Jens Anso and Jesper Voxnaes) are up to. I’ve been fortunate enough to handle one and play with it for the last few days. My initial thoughts are down below.

First of all, this is a great looking knife. It will initially only be available in green canvas micarta and I’m 100% fine with that. It looks great and feels great in the hand. It also goes very well with stonewash blade finish and the finish on the wire clip.

Secondly, this is a beefy knife. Not necessarily “big” but it has a very sturdy and thick feel to it. The .016″ thick blade stock is immediately noticeable as something that means business, as are the 0.55″ thick handles.

Fit and finish on my example was excellent. The spine of the blade is nicely crowned and the micarta is of an excellent quality. If I could change one thing, it would to upgrade some of the T6 torx screws up to T8.

Despite it’s thick blade stock, the Grand slices very well. It comes down to 22 thousandths behind the edge and is basically a full flat grind. The blade shape also gives a great piercing tip. I’ll also never ever complain about Elmax steel.

As I’ve come to expect from Giant Mouse, the ergonomics are excellent. For my hands (Large Size Gloves) there were no hot spots from the clip or anywhere else.

The Grand isn’t a drop-shut fidget toy, but it is very snappy on opening and the action is very smooth.

In the pocket, the Grand feels big without being overly bulky. It carries well, but isn’t exactly going to disappear in your pocket.

This is an excellent addition to the Giant Mouse ACE line-up. The price is right for the materials, the ergonomics are superb and the blade is ready for whatever you want to throw at it.
